Explanation of Rankings

The CONCACAF Club Rankings are based on a clubs performance in their Domestic League (MLS, Liga MX, etc.) and in the CONCACAF Champions League.

The first factor that goes into the calculation is how each individual club performs in their domestic league.  Clubs are assigned points based on Wins and Losses during the regular season.  There is also a weighting factor that is added in based on a clubs Goal Differential.

The second factor that goes into the calculation is a league coefficient.  This helps to determine the strength of the various leagues within CONCACAF.  This coefficient is developed based on how well clubs perform in the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL).  The further clubs advance, the more points a particular league receives.

The third factor that goes into the calculation are bonus points.  Clubs receive bonus points based on their performance in both league playoff matches and CCL matches.

Each of the above factors are weighted and combined to determine each individual clubs particular ranking.
