Weekly Top 25 CONCACAF Club Rankings

CONCACAF Club Rankings - Top 25 Clubs in North and Latin America - April 16th, 2012

1.)  Sporting Kansas City (MLS) -   Sporting KC continues to remain at the top of the CCR Top 25 rankings.  With a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake (last week they were 2nd) and a 6-0-0 start, it is hard for them to not be the top team in North and Latin America right now.  This week will be a tough test for Sporting KC.  On Wednesday, they travel to Vancouver to face the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (22) and then they go to Portland to face the Portland Timbers (80) on Saturday.  Two road matches will be a solid test for the Top Team.

2.)  Santos Laguna (Mexico) - Even with a 3-1 loss to America, Santos Laguna was able to take over the 2nd spot in this weeks rankings.  However, the loss was not as favorable for them in the Primera Division.  They have dropped to 2nd, 1 point behind UANL.  Santos is still riding their strong play over the last few weeks to a Top 2 ranking.  Santos has two tough tests this week.  They will be facing Monterrey (8) in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League Finals on Wednesday.  Then, they follow that up with a home match later in the week when they face UANL (3).  That match will have big implications in both the CCR Top 5 and the Primera Division.

3.)  Tigres UANL (Mexico) - UANL moved into the Top 3 and to the top of the Mexican Primera Division with a 2-1 win over Guadalajara.  They were barely edged out by Santos for the 2nd spot.  As stated above, UANL will be facing Santos (2) later this week.  A win would move them into the Top 2 in the CCR and would further their lead in the Primera Division.

4.)  Morelia (Mexico) - Morelia moved back into the CCR Top 5 with a 2-1 win over Pachuca.  Morelia is only 1 point out of first place in the Mexican Primera Division.  Morelia will be looking to move up in both the CCR Top 5 and the Primera Division when they face Atlante (31) later in the week.

5.)  Seattle Sounders FC (MLS) - With a 1-0 win over the Colorado Rapids, the Seattle Sounders regain a Top 5 spot.  The Sounders just barely edged out the San Jose Earthquakes for the final spot.  The Sounders are off this week, but then they travel to Chicago to face the Chicago Fire (49).
