Weekly Top 25 CONCACAF Club Rankings

CONCACAF Club Rankings - Top 25 Clubs in North and Latin America - May 7th, 2012

1.)  Santos Laguna (FMF) - Santos regained the top spot in this week's CONCACAF Top 25 Club Rankings.  Santos advanced to the semi-finals with a 6-4 aggregate win over the Jaguares.  Santos will be facing UANL (3) in the Clausura semifinals.  They will play on both Thursday and Sunday.

2.)  Seattle Sounders FC (MLS) - The Sounders were able to move up to 2nd in this weeks CCR Top 25 with a 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy and a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union.  Even though Seattle is 3rd in the MLS Western Conference, they are MLS' hottest team going 4-1-0 in their last 5.  They are only 3rd in points because they have played fewer matches.  The Sounders have another busy week facing FC Dallas (51) midweek followed by Real Salt Lake(11) this coming weekend.

3.)  Tigres UANL (FMF) - The Tigres advanced to the Clausura semi-finals with a 5-1 aggregate win over Morelia.  UANL will be battling with Santos Laguna (1) for a trip to the final round.  These clubs have established themselves as two of the top clubs in CONCACAF.  This week, they will battle to be the top club in the Mexican Primera Division.

4.)  Sporting KC (MLS) - Sporting KC lost their top spot with their second straight loss.  Sporting was defeated 0-2 by the Montreal Impact.  Their hot start was good enough to keep them in the Top 5 this week, but any other slip up will cause them to continue to drop.  They continue to have one of the top defenses in MLS, only allowing 5 goals in their first 9 matches.  However, they have not scored in their last two losses.  Sporting will be facing the Chicago Fire (27) this coming weekend.

5.)  Monterrey (FMF) - Monterrey defeated the recently promoted Tijuana by 4-3 aggregate to advance to the Clausura semi-finals.  Monterrey will be facing America (13) starting on Wednesday.  The final leg will be on Saturday.  Monterrey won the CONCACAF Champions League and they will need to get through America for the chance to win the Mexican Primera Division Clausura.
